I-HeAL | Institute for Healthy Aging and Lifespan Studies
About 80 FAU faculty and staff came together in a retreat the summer of 2015 and discussed aging research at the university. The institute arose from that gathering after faculty identified core areas of strengths in age-related research throughout an individual’s lifetime from birth to death.
The retreat was organized after FAU President John Kelly identified health aging as a pillar of his Strategic Plan for the Race to Excellence 2015-2025.

The university-wide institute is significant as it underscores the importance of a collaborative approach to both clinical care and research regarding the process of aging.
The mission of I-HeAL is to promote the health and wellness throughout life by fostering multi-disciplinary collaboration in clinical research, research training, professional education and community outreach.
